Zechariah 9:9 - Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Today is Palm Sunday and of course we would normally be holding our service at the Chapel, but this year we can’t.  So, I have put together a short 20 minute act of worship recording, using extracts from previous services, to remind us of this important event in Jesus’ life as recorded in all of the Gospel accounts. There are 3 hymns for you to join in as well as 2 Bible readings, a prayer and a children’s story-video. CLICK HERE TO JOIN IN >>>  http://falconlodgechapel.sermon.net/main/main/21566775

Crowds of people shouted ‘Hosanna, Hosanna’, a spontaneous outburst of praise which came from their hearts, yet just a few days later the same crowd in a demonstration orchestrated by political and religious leaders would be incited to shout ‘Crucify, crucify’. As Palm Sunday marks the beginning of what is referred to in many churches as ‘Holy Week’, may we be reminded of its significance and value for our lives today - that very important day in history when Jesus began His journey towards the cross.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the closure of church buildings across this land and others, God is faithfully connecting us to the people He has purposefully placed around us. Nothing, not physical separation nor pandemic, can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ, the hope we share in Him. Through these uncertain times, when nothing looks the way we expected it would or are used to, one thing remains the same, an unchanging God.

Romans 8:38-39 - For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A prayer for Palm Sunday.

Father, Praise You for Palm Sunday. This is the day You have made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Father, thank You for Your plan to forgive us through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

Help us to set aside time to intentionally celebrate and worship You and Jesus’ triumphant entry on Palm Sunday.

Though we face uncertain times, we know You are unchanging, You are good, You are close.

In Jesus’ powerful name we pray,

Amen.

For encouragement:

Yesterday afternoon I was walking our dog along Hollyfield Road when I spotted a young family coming the other way. Two young children walked together holding hands, whilst on each side their parents were carrying grabber sticks picking up litter from the pavement and grass verge and placing in carrier bags. As they passed (at a safe distance) I called out ‘Thank you and God bless you’. They responded with smiles and a friendly wave from the children. I have no idea if this family practice any form of faith, but may God speak to them and bless them.

Upcoming birthdays this week – Brenda Wood (Wed 8th) and Beatie Hillman (Thu 9th)
